Zenith : Christophe Colomb

Zenith, the Swiss watchmaker unveiled its latest colecctor's timepiece-the Christophe Colomb. Named after the Legendary 15th century explorer and sefarer the watch contain a manual wind 45-jewel Academy 8804 movement that pulses at 10 vibrations a second.

The watch is inspired by the very first marine chronometer. Long ago, seamen found out that if you had a balance that goes back and forth, and a boat that swings the other way, the clock on the ship wasn't going to work.

Zenith CEO, Jean-Frederic Dufour said the inaccurancy of the early timepieces on board created dire navigation problems for sailor, who couldn't use it to pinpoint their longitude. So, they invented the circular balance that allowed the watch to work in different position. That was the birth of first marine chronometer, which was placed on gimbals to keep the watch always horizontal.

And the Zenith Christophe Colomb have all its required to be the new creations of timepiece that brings the new dimension to the wristwatch. Only 25 piece of this limited and numbered watch have been produced which retail at 209,000 Swiss francs (RM 658.350). Wow....
